Bill is the son of World Boxing Hall of Fame Referee/Judge Dick Young who refereed numerous World Championship Bouts including Mohammed Ali/Ken Norton II. Bill obviously grew up in the
fight game and had a successful amateur boxing career of his own. He has also refereed
and judged bouts as well as trained and managed boxers. He served in the US Army
from 1964-66. He had a 33 year career on the Ventura County Fire Department as a Fire Captain

The latest news is that Bill received the Joe Louis Humanitarian
Medal which was presented February 28, 2009 at Steven's Steakhouse in the City of Commerce.
